Comprehensive Exams

Quality oral health care is our goal. Because of this, we recommend a thorough examination and cleaning every six (6) months in most cases. This allows us to look for cavities that may be just starting, early gum disease, and even oral cancers. At your regular examination, our team will:

• Make yearly cavity-detecting digital x-rays
• Evaluate the health of your gums
• Thoroughly examine all teeth, existing fillings, and crowns for cavities, cracks/fractures, or other issues
• Screen for head and neck cancers – See oral cancer screening

Emergency Exams

Should our patients have a dental emergency, we are committed to treating our patients in a timely and caring manner. During these exams, we evaluate for any sources of infection or pain and treat as indicated. Exams usually involve an x-ray, evaluation of teeth and gums in the painful area, and planning for any treatment required. Some treatments can be initiated and/or completed at this appointment.

Oral Cancer Screening

While oral cancers are rare, they do tend to progress quickly. At every exam and cleaning appointment, we screen for head and neck cancers. If there is anything suspicious, we will monitor, biopsy, and/or refer you to an appropriate specialist for evaluation.

Cleanings

Regular cleanings by our gentle hygienists are the key to good long- term oral health care. Our hygienists are highly trained and knowledgeable, and are an invaluable resource for our patients. As oral health care providers, they take pride in eliminating any plaque or calculus that could lead to cavities and/or gum disease. The finishing touch of a cleaning involves polishing the teeth which brings the sparkle back to your smile!

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride is a safe and effective treatment that we offer for our patients to harden enamel (the outer layer of the teeth) and decrease risk for developing cavities. Think of it as vitamins for your teeth! Fluoride comes as a varnish that is painted on your teeth after your cleaning. Sealants

When children start to get their adult teeth, it is recommended that they are sealed with a protective coating to prevent bacteria and food from causing cavities in the deep grooves and pits on the biting surfaces. When a dental sealant is placed on your child’s tooth, no drilling is necessary.

Night Guards

If you or your significant other have noticed that you grind your teeth at night, a night guard could be a great option to prevent wear or cracking of your teeth. While soft mouth guards that you can get at the drugstore often induce further grinding and clenching, our night guards are made custom to your teeth and bite, and work by keeping your jaw in the most stable position while you sleep.
